Page 11: Descriptive account of the legacy of the Summerstown 182 project and associated feedback pertaining to events, the website and the project's contribution to the community.
The Summerstown182 project will enable the local community to learn the rich history and heritage of the area through stories relating to the 182 First World War soldiers and sailors whose names are on the St. Mary's Church war memorial in Summerstown, south west London. Each of the 182 has a story to tell about life in England during the First World War period. School children, local residents, people whose family members served in the First World War, relatives of the 182 and the wider community will get the opportunity to research and learn more about the 182, their lives and the period they lived in. They will consequently understand better the impact that the First World War had on their community. The objectives of the project will be achieved through a series of heritage workshops for local schools, history group meetings, roadshows and open days. The results of the heritage learnt will be displayed on a 1914-1918 illustrated Timeline, a 182 website and a fold-up information map. Photos and artefacts collected throughout the project will be archived at Wandsworth Heritage Service.
